A Combined IF staining for CLDN4 (green channel, pan-marker gene for epithelial cells) and BEST4 (red channel) demonstrating the presence of BEST4 + epithelial cells in the four types of clinical colorectal samples, predominant in normal tissues. B Combined IF staining for CLDN4 (green channel) and CEACAM5 (red channel, pan-cancer cancer marker gene) showing the presence of CEACAM5 + epithelial cells, enriched in CRC tissure. Nuclei were counter-stained with DAPI. Tissues within the white dashed squares were imaged at higher magnification as displayed on the right side.
